  • Like now that I am awake I need to reiterate how huge this is. It was presumed harvested to extinction by the Romans. It was a favorite flavoring and according to historians one of the best contraceptives ever known. True or not it would be fantastic to study that but it being extinct made that impossible.

This is such a huge deal! I hope they get it figured how to grow it.

  • Which movie was better?

    The Ten Commandments (1956)

    Ben Hur (1959)

    image

    The Ten Commandments:

    • Follows the biblical story of Moses up until the Jews are exiled to the desert. The effects are pretty good for the time, also it is a ridiculously long film at nearly four hours long.

    Ben-Hur:

    • It has some of the best action set-pieces of its era (including the iconic chariot race sequence) and it's just a very well told story. Plus it's an epic film and it 100% earns that title. Thousands of extras and huge sets everywhere. But what I dig about it is that, in a cast of thousands, it truly does keep the focus on the emotional core of the story (i.e. Ben-Hur and his break-up with his ex-boyfriend (not kidding about the ex-boyfriend too. Both the screenwriter and his actor played him as being his ex)).
